In the box

  • Rotating mold base (top ring with codes, bottom ring with 36 sockets)
  • Centered silicone insert
  • Screwdriver
  • VPI Prosthetic Connection Insert(s) as ordered

7 steps

  1. Clean and sterilize first

Non-sterile on delivery. Remove silicone and inserts, ultrasonic clean 10 min at 50 °C, rinse, dry, pouch, autoclave 4 min at 134 °C, dry 30 min.

  2. Fit your VPI insert once

Silicone out. Socket group by underline: none = crestal, 1/2/3 lines = 1/2/3 mm subcrestal. Arrow to the flat, screw from below. Write socket and insert on the info card. Silicone back in.

  3. Turn the ring to the charted well

Well code from the Guide (e.g. pS) over your insert. Assistant task.

  4. Abutment into the insert

Screw the temporary abutment into the VPI insert. Orientation and depth are now fixed.

  5. Fill and cure

Flowable nano-hybrid composite; large wells in two increments. 60 s in the well, 60 s out.

  6. Out, polish, disinfect

Lift out. Polish smooth. Disinfect like any abutment before it goes in the mouth.

  7. Impression post: same well, same insert

Stock impression post instead of the abutment gives the 1:1 duplicate for the impression.

Never skip

  • The mold never goes in the mouth; the abutment does, so polish and disinfect it.
  • Wrong socket group = wrong depth. Check the underlines.
  • Max 145 °C. Replace a torn silicone insert.

After every patient

  • Wipe wells with alcohol, take the silicone out of the base, tabs and pins off the handle.
  • Ultrasonic clean 10 min at 50 °C, aldehyde-, phenol- and chlorine-free detergent. Rinse with purified water. Dry.
  • Inspect. Pouch. Autoclave: 4 min at 132–134 °C pre-vacuum or 30 min at 121 °C gravity. Dry 30 min.
  • Never above 145 °C. Never dry heat, chemiclave, EtO or plasma.
